Parametric layout engine
Change span direction, spacing, grids, openings, and footprint size and the framing re-resolves — no restart, no redraw. Metric-first, with configurable profile-table logic.
Dwg 01 — Overview
Framing Plan is browser-based software for early-stage floor framing layouts. Sketch joists, beams, openings, and dimensions, then hand off a clear preliminary drawing for qualified engineering review.
Free, with no account. No card, no sign-up. Export PNG, PDF and DXF (CAD) without a watermark.
Start from a rectangle, preset, or template, then drag vertices and edit wall lengths directly on the canvas.
Generate joists, beams, grid lines, designated bearing walls, and openings — with checks against the active profile table.
Add symbols, dimensions, and alignment-guided markup, then export a preliminary drawing for review.

C-02
Multi-select, snap-to-wall, alignment guides, dimensioning, symbols, and direct wall editing.
C-03
Designated bearing walls, joist and beam checks, member schedules, and preliminary warnings — in view as you work.

The bundled Sample Metric Timber profile contains illustrative development values, not building-code or manufacturer span data. Statuses compare the layout only with the active profile table; they are not structural verification or approval.
Every format downloads free, with no account and no watermark.
Start a framing planHow to lay out a floor framing plan: joist direction and on-center spacing, beams, bearing walls, floor openings, callouts, and what engineering must confirm.
Read the guide →Complete guidesA framing plan is the structural drawing showing how a floor or roof is framed: joists or rafters, beams, bearing walls, and openings. See every type.
Read the guide →RoofWhat a roof framing plan shows: rafter or truss layout, ridges, hips, valleys, bearing points, openings, and slope notes, plus what needs structural design.
Read the guide →Surprisingly fast workflow for early-stage layouts. I used it to sketch out a multi-unit floor plan and it handled joist direction changes and openings without me redrawing everything. It feels like a proper thinking space rather than just a drafting tool.
I like that it doesn’t try to replace CAD but instead bridges the gap between idea and engineering review. The DXF export was clean enough for me to pass straight to my engineer with minimal edits.
We usually start framing discussions on paper or whiteboards. This tool makes that step digital and way more consistent. The live span feedback alone saves time when testing different layouts.

Projects are stored locally in your browser, so clearing site data clears your plans, so export anything you need to keep. Preliminary plans are not a substitute for engineering review.
